Uh oh, time for an update

Yeah, it’s been a while.  Shameful of me.  We’re growing, so I should post some news.

The PoS has been up and running for a while now, and has been extremely useful.  I’ve been able to fit three standard labs there, and our research has made leaps and bounds.  I’ve diversified into Caldari research and invention, and it wasn’t too cost or labor intensive to get adept at that race.  With new people, come new needs, so now I’m busy perfecting our ammunition production.

We’ll need ammo in our new home, Hakeri.  A great carebear location deep in hisec, we should be well protected with ample opportunities to rack up the ISK.

One way is with my new orca.  It should host some productive mining operations, and facilitate our base movement.

Off to enjoy the new ship…

Corp Minmatar standings reached 6.0 today.  Later today I will attempt to put up a station.  I hope a small station will be enough…

Prospective members can then sign up.

So yeah… sorry for the lack of updates.

Basically, although I’ve stocked up on about 6 months of starbase fuel and found an ideal location, it turns out I did some missions that I shouldn’t have for the Caldari and sort of killed my Minmatar standings a bit.  Recruiting is still on hold while I build them back up to where I can deploy the base.  Sorry about that, as I don’t always get time to run missions with all the trading and industry I’ve been doing…

Slowly but surely

Well, building the corp standings isn’t the cakewalk I originally imagined.  Firstly, I couldn’t even SEE the corp’s standings at first… turns out I had to clear the cache first (thanks CCP for another wonderful bug).  Secondly, it turns out that the standings adjustments done during the downtimes are only for corps/factions where I’ve had a recent adjustment.  So…. I have to grind until I can get a storyline to bump up my faction standings, thus getting the corp on track for a hisec PoS.

Corp recruitment is still suspended until this time.

In the meantime, I’m going to start searching for a good spot for the station.  Gelfiven would be ideal… but I’ll have to look into moon availability…

On the fantasy side of things, Tom Brady’s injury makes me laugh at the moron who drafted him #1 in my league… but karma may end up kicking my ass for taking Moss with my #4 pick :(

Oh hello!

Bare with me here…. the last time I created a website, it was on Geocities back in 1998.  It’s been a while.

So, I love Eve Online.  Perhaps because I am an accountant, and the player-driven economy really appeals to me.  But finding people to enjoy the game with has been another story.  Corps are either way too hardcore, too inactive, or just filled with lame people.  I wanted to do a corp my way – casual with likeable people… but how to distinguish it from the thousands of other corps?

The solution was to combine my love for Eve with my love for fantasy sports.  Hence – The Fantasy Syndicate.   A corp for people who love sports (MLB, NBA, and NFL… I guess I have to specify this due to Eve’s global population), so they can talk about sports while enjoying Eve at a casual pace.  A corp that will hopefully attract enough people so that we can start fantasy leagues for ISK… through entry fees, corp proceeds, donations, whatever.  I think it’s an exciting combination.

So as of right now, I’ve created the corp.  I’m training further skills to be able to allow more members, but I am holding off on recruitment at the moment in order for the corp to receive my personal standings so that I can build a hisec station for research (another benefit for future recruits).

I plan to tax as little as possible – no tax if I can get away with it.  One thing that bothered me about corps was a standard 10% tax.  Now, I don’t mind paying taxes (I do it on a regular basis), but it should benefit me in some way.  That’s the point of taxes.  Until I can offer a tangible benefit, I cannot rationalize charging a tax.

Well, I can’t think of much else to post at the moment.  If the corp expands, I’ll upgrade the webpage to allow forums and the like, but for now I figured a blog page would work.

More to come,
